The naturally skinny Hugh Jackman revealed his grueling routine to ready himself to play the infamous “Wolverine.” Not only does he endure a rigorous work out routine, he consumes excessive calories to pack pounds onto his thin frame, and to feed his growing muscles. You actually have to eat a LOT, and I’m quite a skinny person. So I’m eating ridiculous amounts of food. I quite like everything I ate, but it’s more bland. Chicken breasts, but steamed, no salt. And steamed spinach.”

Jackman is on the new 1608 diet, that is all the rage with fitness fanatics. The way it works is that you eat between the hours of 10am and 6pm at night, consuming 5,000 calories. Then from 6pm to 10am in the morning you fast, eating nothing at all. Forcing 5,000 calories down within 8 hours is tough, it’s literally eating every hour. Think it would be fun to eat that much. According to Jackman, it was really hard. He had to psyche himself up and push those forkfuls down.

It was especially hard since the actor was training in exactly the opposite way for his recently wrapped role of Jean Valjean in “Les Miserables,” where basically ate nothing and reduced his water intake to fully capture the essence of the character. I guess all of this goes to prove that you do have control over how your body looks if you put your mind to it … and if millions of dollars depend on it.
