“I awoke one morning and found myself famous,” said Lord Byron, British poet and politician. This perfectly resonates with how 10-year-old Agamvir Singh (in turban) found instant fame after he appeared as little Bhagat Singh alongside singer Gurdas Maan in the video of his latest song ‘Punjab’.

Within days after the song was released, he was basking in the limelight and his new-found celebrity status was even more evident during an interaction with his proud parents at their Model Town residence.

In his soft-spoken voice, otherwise brimming with confidence, Agamvir says, “I thought only my classmates will be my fans after this song released, but wherever I go people start taking selfies with me. At home, the doorbell keeps ringing and it’s mostly neighbours who bring along friends and relatives to take a picture with me. They are interested in knowing my experience of working with Gurdas Maan and about my future projects.”

Going to school has become both funny and exciting for this Class-4 student. He laughs and says, “The moment I step inside the school van, everyone starts asking me for Gurdas Maan’s contact details and other singers and Bollywood stars. Everyone wants to know how I bagged the role in the video.”

So, how did he bag this role? His father says Agamvir’s work as the lead in a short film, ‘The Little Gardener’, paved the way for this break. “A casting director showed it to Maan and he was instantly selected,” he says.

And what was it like to work with one of the finest singers to come out of Punjab? “He was caring and never made me feel like he was some big star. He did not let me feel nervous and I enjoyed his jokes and had fun on the sets. We shot for eight days in different parts of Punjab,” says Agamvir.

On Friday, to his utter surprise, he was invited as the chief guest at a school in Doraha for its annual function where besides distributing awards, he also gave a short speech. He didn’t believe the invitation was genuine till he finally arrived at the function.

A few weeks back, he and his father Jaspreet were also invited to Kapil Sharma’s comedy talk show in Mumbai along with Maan and his son Gurickk G Mann who directed the song. The following day, they were invited to dinner at Maan’s Mumbai residence where he was presented a note of blessings by the singer that now stands framed in his Ludhiana home.
