On this particular day of July 1946, an amazing Black actor was born who never disappointed his fans with his outstanding acting skills. Danny Glover is an African-American actor, director, and a philanthropist. He is famous for his unforgettable leading roles in movies such as The Color Purple, Lethal Weapon movie series, Predator 2, Angels in the Outfield and To Sleep with Anger during the 1980s and 1990s.

Danny Lebern Glover was born on July 22, 1946, in San Francisco, California, USA. His parents Carrie and James Glover worked as postal workers, who were also the active members of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Their mission was to fight for the equal rights of the Black people. Glover had a fine childhood and suffered from epilepsy as a young adult. Luckily, he never had a seizure since he turned 35. He did his schooling from George Washington High school and then attended San Francisco State University (SFSU) during 1960 but never got a chance to graduate. He later got an opportunity to receive an honorary degree from the same university. He also attended the Black Actors’ Workshop from the American Conservatory Theater to develop professional acting skills.

If we talk about the movie credentials of Danny Glover, he has amazingly performed in the blockbuster Lethal Weapon film series to many smaller independent feature films, some of which are produced by him. He co-starred in some of the amazing movies such as Dreamgirls and Po’ Boy’s Game. He also appeared in hit features like Honeydripper, Shooter, Rewind and Be Kind.

Glover is also famously known for his wide-reaching philanthropic efforts and community activities. He very particularly emphasizes on the betterment of healthcare service, economic justice and different educational programs for the Black community living in America. Glover received DGA honor in 2006 for his immense effort in the field of social activism. He has also served as the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Program from 1998 to 2004, where he has mainly focused on the issues regarding diseases, poverty and economic development in Latin America, Africa, and the Caribbean countries.

In 2005, Danny Glover formed Louverture Films that is dedicated to the production and development of films and focuses on the historical era, commercial values, social purpose and artistic culture. This New York based company has many great projects on its credit and Glover is still doing hard work to make it one of a kind production house in the U.S.
