Christmas isn’t just a time for other individuals to purchase you the important things you don’t want to buy yourself. It’s the season of goodwill – the time of year when it’s good to offer a hand to those less lucky than ourselves.
Credit: ITV Props, then, to Amir Khan. The fighter (and Olympic silver medalist) recently commanded the greatest ever charge for starring in I’m A Celebrity! Get Me Out Of Here, banking a reported ₤ 300,000 to be stuck in the jungle with a lot of animals and bugs. And some wildlife, too.But the 30 year-old has actually offered a big piece of that to kids’s charity Barnardo’s, for whom he’s an ambassador.
Credit: ITV Needless to state, Barnardo’s chief executive Javed Khan was quite chuffed. He said: “I am really grateful to Amir Khan for this fantastic present and his ongoing assistance as an ambassador for Barnardo’s, which helps thousands of vulnerable children, young people, carers and parents every year.
“It’s exactly the generosity of people like Amir that make it possible for us to supply our network of essential services across the length and breadth of the UK. We wish Amir well in the jungle and will follow his progress.”
Individuals might have been providing Khan a tough time recently after he asked if there had ever been a female Prime Minister in the UK, but this gesture reveals that while he might have been a little empty in the head when he said that, he has lots of heart.Credit: PA Khan, who was just recently voted off the show, is the greatest ever paid participant to appear on the show, beating the previous record held-well, got -by Katie Cost, which is believed to be around ₤ 250,000. She has actually appeared on the program twice, however, so who knows if her total payment came to more.On the low end of the pay scale this year is Made In Chelsea star Georgia’ Toff’Toffolo, who got
₤ 13,000 for her appearance. Not that she necessarily needs the money, of course. Putting yourself through all that for that little appears like offering yourself a little brief. That’s less money you can offer to charity at the end of it. Still, let’s hope she and the other entrants follow in Khan’s footsteps.
