Four years ago, a Louisiana family was left heartbroken when they discovered their Yorkshire Terrier, Sam, had gone missing from their yard. Brought into their home as a birthday present for their oldest daughter, Karisa, the Lamberts held out hope that one day Sam would find his way back home. But as the years passed, that faith was all but gone.
And then they received an astonishing phone call from nearly 1,000 miles away that changed everything.
Animal control found the cutie wandering a school playground in Cedar Rapids, Iowa 940 miles away from his home.
Sam was brought to the local shelter where they treated him for a severe skin allergy.
Already missing nine teeth, they were also forced to extract 10 more due to their severely poor condition.
Weighing only six pounds, it”s anyone”s guess how the little guy survived over the years.
But they also made a happy discovery: a microchip that put them in contact with his family.
United Airlines even provided Sam with a free first class flight to get him back home as soon as he was stable enough for travel.
Karisa said that every time she would see a Yorkie while he was gone, she would hope for a moment that it was Sam.
She couldn”t be happier that this time, it really is her special guy.
The whole family agrees, this happy reunion is nothing short of a blessing.

The family only wishes the pup could talk and fill them in on how he got around for four years on his own. That has to be one heck of a story.
While they wait for doggy translating technology to become a thing, I have a feeling they”ll be spoiling this little guy with all the love and cuddles he could want, to make up for that lost time.
